"What if this is as good as it gets?"
We keep waiting for life to change, or maybe its just me, but what if this time, it isn't going to change? Uh-oh. Now I come smack dab into the rest of my life: getting up at five in the morning, working all day, doing something short after work, like a walk or dinner or a movie, getting tired at nine and into bed by ten. When you are in high school you have a built in social life that distracts you from the monotony of the daily grind of school. In the working world of a teacher, summer vacation is something to look forward to, as are ten sick days a year, so the grind eventually stops. But at a cost.
I started reading "Travels with Charlie" by Steinbeck the other day and I got a terrible case of wonderlust. Is there anything like the open road to raise your spirits? I want to get lost inside a life that is someone else's.
