Dismayed with music radio play of late, I've taken to listening to NPR quite a bit. I recently heard bits of President Bush's speech in China regarding the strained relationship between China and Taiwan. He said, in effect, that any change in the status quo by either nation would be unacceptable to the United States, and that he wanted the status quo upheld because of the import/export business between the US and China. Several questions nearly flew out of my mouth at once. Here we are "freeing" Iraqi people from tyranny, and in Communist China, the President essentially warns Taiwan not to pursue its' own freedom from China. Do the people of Taiwan care what the bumbling President of the hated US says they should do? And when did we accept China's human rights atrocities and Communist government so willingly?
Oh, that's right, when our economy started depending so much on them, that's when.
