some people read this, so i'll use it as a format for a news item. last tuesday, the 28th, i was in a serious car accident. i was driving home after work on I-80. some wood was in the road, fallen from a truck, and i swirved to avoid it. i lost control of my car and ended up driving straight into a concrete embankment. i do not remember any of it. i have a concussion and some cuts and bruises, but i'm okay. i'm in one piece, nothing is dislodged or broke. i've a headache since i woke up in the hospital on wednesday, and i'm having trouble focusing on things. i spent tuesday night, wednesday, and half of thursday at South Suburban Hospital, where i received sub-standard care. i had a cat scan, an ekg, an xray, and an iv in my hand, none of which i remember. it seems i called my mom right after it happened and told her the story, but i don't remember it. my short term memory still isn't very good, but its getting better. my car, sadly, is dead. the toyota corrolla that i loved so dearly, that took me and others to iowa, canada, new york, florida, wisconsin, michigan, etc., will never again see the highways of America. i took a few last pictures of the wreck over the weekend, and made sure to get the blood spots on the inside of the car.

so, my plan is to get through this last week of school, then figure out how to buy a used (new to me) car, and look for another teaching job and a summer job. i have to see the neurologist again, a dentist, and a chiropractor. i am lucky to be alive, i am fortunate that i was not injured worse. no one else was hurt in the accident but me, which is also good news.

i'll have more on all the post-accident happenings but that's it for now.
